Extra-Inning Win by Whales Over Packers
|
Fans of the Chicago Whales who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Chicago win over the visiting Kansas City Packers, 3-2. Floyd Mickey started for the home team against Mark Higbee. Floyd Mickey earned accolades for his performance. Hollis McLaughlin notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 1-0.
The Whales relied on third baseman Alex McCarthy for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the tenth, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
"Getting the win feels nice," said McCarthy. "More importantly, I had a good game."
