Newark Gets 13-5 Win Against Packers
Despite a fine performance by first baseman Guy Tutwiler, the Kansas City Packers lost to the Newark Pepper, 13-5. Tutwiler was 4-5 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was Ballplayer Strobel. His record is now 3-2. The right-hander went 7 innings, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits for the Pepper. The win puts Newark at 8-10.

Ed Conwell's at-bat in the bottom of the third inning was a big one for Newark. Coming to bat with two out, the bases loaded and Newark leading 3-0, the third baseman hit a 2-run single.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Conwell.
