Packers Pull Off Thrilling 4-2 Win in Extras
|
The Kansas City Packers faced a tough opponent in Chicago pitcher Floyd Mickey, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Wrigley Field by a final score of 4-2. Mickey went 11 innings and allowed 4 runs. Mark Higbee was the winner. Over 10 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 10 hits, with 5 walks and 3 strikeouts. George Payne earned the save for Kansas City, his 1st.
With one out in the top of the 11th, Henri Rondeau had a game-changing hit. The Packers right fielder slammed a 2-run single off Floyd Mickey, making the score 4-2, Kansas City.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Rondeau told the Kansas City Bulletin.
The loss drops the Whales to 13-8.
