The Pittsburgh Rebels defeated the Newark Pepper, 5-4, in Federal League action at Arnold Park. Pittsburgh pitcher Allan Collamore had a standout performance. Collamore went 9.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 10 hits, walked 6, and struck out 6. His record improves to 3-4. Cy Barger earned save number 2 this season.
With two out in the top of the tenth, L. Leonard had a game-changing hit. The Rebels pinch hitter slammed a solo home run off Earl Moseley, making the score 5-4, Pittsburgh.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Leonard told the Pittsburgh Observer.
With the win, the Rebels hiked their record to 19-13.
