Pepper Stymie St. Louis, Take 2-1 Win
|
Newark starter James Reams put a stranglehold on the St. Louis offense. The right-hander had complete command of his changeup in leading the Pepper to a 2-1 win. Reams went 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-1. The 6th-place Pepper have a record of 35-38.
Making an impact for the home team was Philip Carling. In the bottom of the seventh, the 28-year old catcher had a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, Pepper.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said St. Louis manager Troy Sinclair, "let me know."
