The Newark Pepper did just enough to sneak past the Pittsburgh Rebels, 8-7, at Arnold Park. Newark pitcher Harry Moran, in particular, had a standout performance. Moran got the win, improving to 1-4. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 6.2 innings. Moran allowed no runs. Newark is now riding a 3-game win streak.

John Cochran, who is tied for 3rd in the FL in home runs with 3, won the game with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the ninth. In the contest, the Newark left fielder went 3 for 5 with 3 singles.

"You can never predict what'll happen," Cochran said. "That's why you play the game."
