Rebels Trip Terrapins, 2-1
|
The Pittsburgh Rebels took Baltimore pitcher Ballplayer Benton's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Terrapin Park. The final score had Pittsburgh getting past the Terrapins, 2-1. Benton went 9 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 2. With the win, Pittsburgh raised its record to 57-50.
It could have been a different outcome for Pittsburgh, had it not been for Ed Burns, the 27-year old shortstop . Burns contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning to put Pittsburgh up, 2-0.
Burns told a Pittsburgh Observer reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
