Lamlein Whips Pittsburgh, 3-0
|
It wasn't easy but the Baltimore Terrapins made it look that way.
Starter Fred Lamlein shut out the Pittsburgh Rebels despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Baltimore Terrapins cruised to victory, 3-0. Lamlein allowed only 6 hits and rang up 1 strikeout but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
Lamlein has fashioned a 14-11 mark for the season, 2.84 ERA and thrown 224.2 innings in 28 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .231 against him.
