Terriers Pitching Ravaged by Gardner
|
Packers right fielder Earle Gardner had his way with St. Louis pitching today at Gordon and Koppel Field and mauled them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. His efforts were all in vain, though, as the Terriers ruined his great day by toppling the Packers, 7-5.
"I had a great day, but you've got to give St. Louis credit, they did what they had to do to win," he told reporters after the game. "They weren't very impressed with my 5 hits."
"Oh, we noticed what Gardner did today," Terriers skipper Troy Sinclair said. "He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him."
Earle Gardner singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
So far this season Gardner is hitting .284 with no home runs, 41 RBIs and 33 runs scored. He has 93 hits in 327 at-bats and a .326 OBP.
