Extra-Inning Win by Pepper Over Tip-Tops
H. Smith did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Brooklyn Tip-Tops from losing, 13-9, to the Newark Pepper at Washington Park. Smith went 6 for 7 with a double and 5 singles. He drove in 3 runs. Hi Toraason snagged the win in relief. In 3 innings, the right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit. He's now 3-5 on the season. Newark, at 55-56, occupies 6th place in the Federal League.

Harry Pearce went 3 for 8 with 3 singles, while scoring 3 runs for Newark. In a tie game with two out in the top of the 13th, Pearce came through with a run-scoring single. It put the Pepper in front, 10-9.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Pearce.
