Chicago Defeated by Baltimore, 4-1
Baltimore Terrapins starter Fred Lamlein pitched effectively against the Chicago Whales at Wrigley Field. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 4-1 win. The triumph puts Baltimore at 59-53 for the season.

In the top of the 6th, left fielder Ed Mensor gave Baltimore the lead when he hit a 2-run double. The Terrapins had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out double off Chicago pitcher Floyd Mickey changed that -- and Baltimore went on to win.

"Good team win," Mensor said. "I love it when a plan comes together."
