Newark Pepper starter James Reams turned in a sterling performance against the St. Louis Terriers, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. Reams went the distance for Newark. He gave up 2 runs on 9 hits. Newark now has a record of 58-56 with the win.
Robert Marshall had a timely hit for Newark in the bottom of the seventh. With two out and a runner on 1st, Marshall hit a run-scoring single off Walt Doan. It put the Pepper in front, 3-2.
"We were in it," said St. Louis manager Troy Sinclair. "We just didn't score enough runs."
