Rebels Win in Extras, 3-2
|
The Pittsburgh Rebels picked up a win at Arnold Park, knocking off the Newark Pepper, 3-2. Starting pitcher Allan Collamore was an essential part of his team's success. In 11.2 innings, Collamore surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 4. He allowed 2 runs. Earning the save was Cy Barger. He's now cashed in 8 of 12 save opportunities.
Mal Barry provided some late-game drama. In the top of the 12th, with no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Barry hit a run-scoring single. It helped Pittsburgh take the lead and grab the win.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Barry told the Pittsburgh Observer.
The win puts Pittsburgh at 59-57 this season.
