Buffalo Tops Pittsburgh, 9-2
|
The Pittsburgh Rebels went down to defeat to Frank Larson and his Buffalo teammates. The final score was 9-2 in favor of the Blues. Larson, now 11-5, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 2, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. With the win, Buffalo pushed its record to 67-64.
Tied up with the Rebels in the top of the fifth inning, the Blues got a boost from left fielder Wally Rehg. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Rehg saw a 1-0 fastball from Albert Cummings and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Buffalo on top, 3-2.
"Enjoyed this one," Rehg told the Buffalo Bulletin. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
