Trautman Tosses 3-0 Shutout
|
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.
Fred Trautman of the Pittsburgh Rebels proved the point at Exposition Park today, holding the Newark Pepper to 2 hits in a complete game shutout victory.
"Trautman made us look real bad today," Pepper manager Jose Glassman said in his postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Trautman had 2 strikeouts and gave up no walks as the Rebels took the 3-0 win.
This season-to-date Trautman has 20 wins and 10 losses and a 2.23 ERA.
