Rebels Clip Pepper, 4-3
The Pittsburgh Rebels beat the Newark Pepper, 4-3. Pittsburgh pitcher and Joplin, Missouri, native Marc Hall led the way. With the win, Pittsburgh pushed its record to 71-67.

When he came to bat in the bottom of the ninth, Mal Barry had a chance to be the hero. Newark pitcher James Reams had other ideas. But with two outs, Barry reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run. The Rebels had themselves a dramatic win.

"Marc was able to execute his pitches," said Pittsburgh manager Frank Collins. "Simple as that."
