Rebels Dump Chicago, 2-1, to Win 4th in a Row
|
The Pittsburgh Rebels eked out a 2-1 win versus the Chicago Whales at Exposition Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Allan Collamore. He was terrific. Collamore, now 12-16, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Pittsburgh raised its record to 73-67 with the win.
In the bottom of the sixth, Pittsburgh second baseman L. Leonard had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, Leonard stroked a run-scoring single to right. It made the score 2-1, Pittsburgh. For the game, he was 1 for 4.
After the game, Collamore told the Pittsburgh Observer, "Like I've always said, the challenge is what makes this game worth playing."
