Kansas City Doubles Up Newark, 8-4
|
Kansas City played host to Newark at Gordon and Koppel Field.
With shortstop Ballplayer Conyngham leading the charge, the Kansas City Packers defeated the Newark Pepper, 8-4, at Gordon and Koppel Field. Conyngham, who is tied for 7th in the FL in stolen bases with 32, went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Kansas City pitcher Mark Higbee got the win, upping his record to 18-16. Earl Moseley got the loss.
Kansas City grabbed a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth when Mark Higbee hit a bases-clearing double. For the day, Higbee threw 9 innings allowing 4 runs.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Conyngham said.
The triumph puts Kansas City at 72-72 for the season.
