The Pittsburgh Rebels defeated the Brooklyn Tip-Tops, 9-3. Doing his part was catcher Tommy Murray, who was 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. With the win, Pittsburgh upped its record to 75-68.

With Pittsburgh trailing 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, the Rebels fortunes got a boost when second baseman L. Leonard turned a 3-0 fastball from Harris Sutton into his 4th home run of the season. The hit scored 2 and put Pittsburgh up, 3-2.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Murray told the Pittsburgh Observer.
