Condon Blanks Chicago, 3-0
|
The Baltimore Terrapins shut out the Chicago Whales 3-0 today behind the strong pitching of D. Condon. Condon surrendered only 2 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 5.
Following the last out, Condon appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Chicago manager Tim Van Noy, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Condon's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.
The Whales skipper would not comment on the exchange, but at the Terrapins press conference, Condon confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.
"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Condon said.
"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Baltimore manager John Sustaita added.
Thus far this season Condon has posted a 11-3 record, started 16 games, struck out 68 batters in 140 innings and compiled a 2.25 ERA.
