Bottorff Crafts 3-0 Shutout
Sunday, September 6th, 1914
It wasn't easy but the Indianapolis Hoosiers made it look that way.
Starter Arthur Bottorff shut out the Brooklyn Tip-Tops despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Indianapolis Hoosiers cruised to victory, 3-0. Bottorff allowed only 6 hits and rang up 4 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
In pitching stats this season Bottorff has rung up 18 wins and 15 losses in 37 games. He has an ERA of 2.94 and has fanned 116 batters in 275.1 innings.
