Barger Grabs FL Reliever of the Year Award
Tuesday, October 13th, 1914
1914 was a year to remember for Cy Barger.

The Pittsburgh Rebels closer was the owner of a 1.09 ERA this season over 57.2 innings of work. He made 44 relief appearances and had 17 saves, 27 strikeouts, 18 walks and a record of 3 wins and 3 losses.

He's also now got some hardware, as the 29-year-old has been named the Federal League Reliever of the Year Award winner.

"It's something I can tell my grandchildren some day, pretty special," he said.

He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Ballplayer Christman of the St. Louis Terriers finished second in voting, while F. Smith of the Kansas City Packers finished third.
