With first baseman Joe Judge leading the charge, the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Chicago Cubs, 5-4, at Forbes Field. Judge, who is tied for 4th in the NL in bases on balls with 61, was 5 for 6 with a triple, 4 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. The win was credited to Tom L Hughes in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Hank Robinson took the loss. With this game in the books, Pittsburgh is 62-69, Chicago 60-69.

Jack Sheehan clinched the win with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the 15th. In the game, the Pittsburgh shortstop went 2 for 7 with 2 singles.
