The Chicago Cubs downed the Pittsburgh Pirates, 4-3, at West Side Park. Hans Lobert led the way, going 2-for-2 for Chicago. Ben DeMott earned the save, his 11th in 12 tries. At 61-70, the Cubs are currently 6th in the NL.

In the bottom of the seventh, Chicago starting pitcher Rube Bressler hit a run-scoring single to center field. The clutch hit made it, 4-3, Cubs.
