Athletics Double Up St. Louis, 6-3
|
The Philadelphia Athletics topped the St. Louis Browns, 6-3, in AL action at Shibe Park. The standout performance belonged to Philadelphia pitcher and Folsom, California, native Bobby Keefe. Keefe, now 10-18, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 5, and allowing 3 runs. Philadelphia has now won 3 straight, while the Browns have lost 4 in a row.
The Athletics benefited from an error in the bottom of the fifth inning. Philadelphia was leading 3-2 when Red W Smith hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put Philadelphia in front, 5-2.
"It was a solid team effort," Smith said. "That's usually what it takes to win."
