One Run Not Enough for Browns
|
Chicago White Sox starter Dick Crutcher turned in a sterling performance against the St. Louis Browns, leading his team to a slim 2-1 win. The win makes Chicago 69-83.
In the bottom of the first, Chicago shortstop Bill Wambsganss had a big at-bat. With one out and the bases loaded, he hit a run-scoring single. For the game, Wambsganss was 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
"The old adage is true," said Wambsganss. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
