The Philadelphia Athletics went down to defeat to Bob Shawkey and his St. Louis teammates. The final score was 5-2 in favor of the Browns. Shawkey got the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed 6 hits and walked 6 over 8 innings. Shawkey allowed 2 runs. The save went to Tommy C Thompson, number 1 for him.
Making an impact for the home team was Marty Kavanagh. In the bottom of the seventh, the 23-year old second baseman had a 2-run double. That made the score 3-2, Browns.
