Pirates Lose, 6-4, at Redland Field
|
The Cincinnati Reds beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-4. Cincinnati pitcher and Le Grand, California, native Jack Coombs led the way. In 9 innings, Coombs surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. He allowed 4 runs. Cincinnati is off to a hot start at 2-1.
Beals Becker was a prime factor in the win for the Reds. In the bottom of the third with one out, the 28-year old left fielder hit a 2-run single. He was 3-4 with a triple and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"It's a good day to be a fan after a win like that," Becker told the Cincinnati Observer.
