Athletics Eke Out 3-2 Win Versus St. Louis
Philadelphia Athletics starter Rube Marquard turned in a top-notch performance against the St. Louis Browns at Shibe Park. The result was a win for the Athletics, 3-2. Yes, it was a win for Philadelphia; but their 14-33 record is still nothing to boast about.

Philadelphia took the lead in the bottom of the third on a big hit from Frank O'Rourke. On a first pitch fastball from Frank Brower, O'Rourke hit a 2-run double. That made it 3-1, Athletics. For the day, O'Rourke went 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.

"Tough loss," said St. Louis manager Ducky Hemp. "But we'll learn from it."
