Reds Prevail, 6-4, Over Boston
|
Boston left fielder John Wilson had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 6-4, to Cincinnati at Redland Field. Wilson was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Bill Hopper earned the win for Cincinnati. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 3-8. Cincinnati occupies 7th place in the NL at 21-27.
The Reds got a big boost from catcher Jeff Sweeney who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the fifth inning off Braves hurler Harry Suter. It was his 4th RBI of the season and put Cincinnati on top, 5-4.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Sweeney told the Cincinnati Observer. "It's as simple as that."
