The Chicago Cubs picked up a win at West Side Park, knocking off the Boston Braves, 7-2. Starting pitcher Al Carson was an essential part of his team's success. Carson, the winner, moves to 5-9. He threw 9 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. The Cubs raised their record to 27-31.
Chicago shortstop Tony Smith contributed to the cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, Smith went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2.
