Benton K's 12 En Route to 3-2 Cardinals Win
|
Fans saw a dandy of a game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Braves.
The St. Louis Cardinals racked up a win at Robison Field, bumping off the Boston Braves, 3-2. Rube Benton, who started for St. Louis, pitched effectively for his team. With the win, St. Louis upped its record to 37-24.
Benton allowed 2 runs on 5 hits over 9 innings for the Cardinals. He walked 1 and struck out 12.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Benton. "Successful pitchers do it."
