Knight Propels White Sox to 5-0 Win
|
A good performance from third baseman John Knight helped the Chicago White Sox defeat the St. Louis Browns, 5-0. Knight went 4 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs for the White Sox. Dick Crutcher, the winner, improved to 6-6. He held the Browns to no runs on 5 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 7. Chicago now sits in 6th place in the AL at 29-39.
Knight came through for Chicago with a solo home run in the bottom of the third. He hit a 2-1 fastball to left field, staking his team to a 1-0 lead.
In postgame remarks, Knight said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
