Indians Lose By a Run at St. Louis, 5-4
|
Cleveland left fielder Harry Hooper had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Hooper was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, even as St. Louis beat the Indians, 5-4. St. Louis reliever Tommy C Thompson got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Doc Crandall was tagged with the loss. Charlie Becker, credited with the save, is now 2 for 3 in save opportunities.
Making an impact for the home team was Jack Barry. In the bottom of the sixth, the 28-year old second baseman had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 4-3, Browns.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Barry said.
The win gives the Browns a record of 24-48.
