Red Sox Top Browns, 3-1
|
Boston got a strong outing from Bullet Joe Bush as the Red Sox defeated the St. Louis Browns, 3-1, at Sportsman's Park IV. Bert Brenner was credited with the save, his 1st in 1 tries. Boston is 5th in the AL with a record of 45-48.
Runs were hard to come by in this one. Ken Williams's at-bat with two out in the top of the 12th, therefore, was critical. The Boston left fielder hit a 2-run single, to put his team on top, 3-1.
"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said St. Louis manager Ducky Hemp. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
