White Sox Win in Extras, 2-0
|
Fenway Park was the site of a true pitchers' duel.
The Chicago White Sox beat the Boston Red Sox, 2-0, at Fenway Park . Starting pitcher Willie Mitchell was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Chicago pitcher Scott Perry got the win. He's now 7-4. Johnny Tillman was tagged with the loss.
Al Platte's at-bat with no one out in the top of the tenth was critical. The Chicago right fielder reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run, to put his team on top, 1-0. Runs were at a premium and this one was huge.
"It was terrific getting this win," Mitchell said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
The White Sox now own a record of 44-54.
