Indians Deal Athletics 6-5 Loss
|
The Cleveland Indians stopped the Philadelphia Athletics, 6-5, behind an impressive performance from Stuffy McInnis. The top prospect made life miserable for Philadelphia pitching. He went 2 for 5 with 2 singles. He scored 3 runs. Cleveland starter Mellie Wolfgang was credited with the win after throwing 121 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. With the win, the Indians sit at 61-40.
In the top of the seventh, catcher Jesse Altenburg hit a run-scoring single to right. The single, which was hit off of Grover Lowdermilk, gave Cleveland a 6-5 lead.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," McInnis said.
