Indians Win by Slim Margin, 2-1
|
Fans watched the Cleveland Indians and the Boston Red Sox fight to the finish.
The Cleveland Indians picked up a win at Fenway Park , taking down the Boston Red Sox, 2-1. Starting pitcher Stan Dougan was a big reason why. The triumph puts Cleveland at 63-40 for the season.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Heinie Groh came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Boston pitcher Jim Buchanan, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cleveland on top, 2-1.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Groh said.
