Indians Suffer 4-3 Loss to Boston
|
The Boston Red Sox bested the Cleveland Indians, 4-3, at Fenway Park . Ballplayer Harm was one of the standouts. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Phil Douglas got the win, improving to 10-12. He worked 7.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 7. Boston now owns a record of 50-53.
Ed Konetchy, who finished 5th in the AL in runs with 77 in 1908, aided the Boston cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Cleveland manager George Davis. "But we decided not to take it."
