Alexander Masters Boston in Complete Game Win
|
The St. Louis Cardinals got a magnificent performance from pitcher Grover Cleveland Alexander, who muffled the Boston offense en route to a tight 2-1 Cardinals win at Robison Field. The win elevated the Cardinals to 61-47.
Alexander, a native of Elba, Alabama, was dealing all game. He kept Boston hitters off-balance, while giving the Cardinals 9 quality innings. Alexander threw 91 pitches, allowing 4 hits and striking out 2.
Alexander said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
