Red Sox Score Late, Upend White Sox, 4-2
|
Boston Red Sox starter Jim Buchanan hurled his team past the Chicago White Sox, 4-2. Buchanan went the distance for Boston. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. The Red Sox raised their record to 55-59.
Mike Konnick provided some late-game drama. In the top of the eighth, with no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Konnick hit a 2-run double. It helped Boston take the lead and grab the win.
"We played hard and won," said Buchanan. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
