Browns Drop Red Sox, 3-1, with Late Score
|
The St. Louis Browns got a magnificent performance from pitcher Elmer Criger, who muffled the Boston offense en route to a tight 3-1 Browns win at Sportsman's Park IV. Criger went 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 2-0. The Browns raised their record to 48-71.
Making an impact for the home team was Frank Baker. In the bottom of the eighth, the fan favorite had a run-scoring double. That made the score 2-1, Browns.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Baker.
