Weilman Pitches 4-0 Shutout
|
Carl Weilman pitched a strong game at Sportsman's Park IV today, blanking the St. Louis Browns 4-0. Weilman allowed no runs on 3 hits, totaled 4 strikeouts and gave up 1 walk.
Philadelphia manager Dave Jackson said he could tell immediately it was going to be a good game for Weilman.
"Right from the start, you could see how economical he was," Jackson said. "He threw a lot of strikes."
Weilman has a 9-18 season record so far. In 30 starts, he has fanned 78 batters in 234.1 innings with a 3.11 ERA.
