Browns Nip Tigers, 8-7
|
The St. Louis Browns beat the Detroit Tigers, 8-7, at Sportsman's Park IV. The Browns got a fine performance from left fielder Wilbur Good, who hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The Tigers, at 74-56, have lost 5 in a row.
The Browns procured the win, in large part because of third baseman Frank Baker. In the bottom of the 11th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
Postgame, Browns manager Ducky Hemp complimented Good. "No question about it. Lefty was terrific."
