Speer Fashions Shutout Against Indians
The Washington Senators did little to support starter Kid Speer against the Cleveland Indians, but it turned out he didn't need the help.

The left-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Indians, striking out 6 and surrendering 4 hits. The performance from Speer allowed Washington to escape with the 1-0 win despite an anemic offense.

"Nobody came to me and said 'Kid, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Speer told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."

Over the season Speer has thrown 176.2 innings and dished out 100 strikeouts with a 10-8 mark and a 3.31 ERA.
