Red Sox Top Chicago, 1-0
Boston and Chicago exchanged scoreless frames until -- at last -- someone crossed the plate.

The Red Sox grabbed a win, 1-0, at Fenway Park , overcoming a fine effort from Chicago pitcher Cy Falkenberg. Falkenberg went 11.1 innings and allowed no runs. The win belongs to Claude Hendrix in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Scott Perry took the loss for Chicago.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 17th inning, when Boston pinch hitter Red Downey, facing Scott Perry, had a run-scoring single. It gave the Red Sox the 1-0 win.

"The game of baseball will test you," said Jimmy Collins, the Boston skipper. "This one tested us."

After today's action, Boston sits at 64-74, while Chicago falls to 62-77.
