Kauff Delivers Clutch At-Bat for Washington in Walk-Off Win
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Washington Senators and the St. Louis Browns. Washington won it, 1-0. Washington starter Kid Speer was in command. The winning pitcher was Speer, now 11-8. He tossed 9 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 9. St. Louis now has a 8-game losing streak.
In the bottom of the ninth, Benny Kauff knew he could end it with one good swing of the bat. And he did, hitting a run-scoring single off St. Louis pitcher R. Reynolds.
"Kid had swing-and-miss stuff," said Washington manager Zachery Marchese.
