Athletics Score 6-4 Win Against New York
|
The Philadelphia Athletics picked up a win at Shibe Park, knocking off the New York Yankees, 6-4. Starting pitcher Bobby Keefe was a big reason why. In 8.2 innings, Keefe surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3. He allowed 4 runs. Elmer Rieger notched his 11th save in 18 chances.
Philadelphia first baseman Dick Hoblitzell helped the Athletics go up, 5-4, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Hoblitzell hit a run-scoring single off New York pitcher Ed Walsh.
"Big team win," Keefe said later.
The Athletics sport a record of 57-93.
