Washington got a terrific performance from pitcher Kid Speer, but it wasn't enough to beat the Boston Red Sox. Boston won the National Park contest, 3-1. Speer threw 10 innings of 7-hit ball for the losing team. Boston reliever Johnny Tillman was the winner. His record is now 4-4. Kid Speer took the loss. Boston now sits at 70-79, while Washington falls to 82-68.

In the top of the 11th, catcher Mike Konnick hit a 2-run home run to left-center. The home run, which was hit off of Kid Speer, gave Boston a 3-1 lead.

Konnick said his team "played with determination."
