Yankees Suffer 5-4 Home Loss
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Philadelphia Athletics eventually prevailed.
The Philadelphia Athletics picked up a win at Brush Stadium (AL), taking down the New York Yankees, 5-4. Starting pitcher Pete Fahrer was a big reason why. Fahrer picked up the win for Philadelphia, going 8.1 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 3-1.
The Athletics got a gift in the top of the seventh inning, when they were leading 4-1. With one out and a runner on 3rd, Johnny Bates reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run. It made the score 5-1, Philadelphia.
"Good win for our guys," said Bates.
Philadelphia, now 6-10, is off to a slow start.
